Fallout 76 has gone a long way since its turbulent launch, and to this day, the members of the community – well, at least the ones that are still playing the game – keep asking for much-requested features the project lacks. A few of them were discussed at QuakeCon 2019, and now we have some sort of an update regarding long-awaited private servers.
For a game like Fallout 76, private servers might actually act as salvation. The troubled online project created in the same vein as Rust would only benefit from community-created servers. The aforementioned survival sandbox, for instance, has had this feature for years now, and it greatly helps to maintain the game’s popularity. Regarding Fallout 76, development director Chris Mayer said that private servers would finally become available in the nearest future, although he didn’t specify the exact date. Funnily, Bethesda promised to incorporate the feature after the game would launch, but it’s been about nine months since – and nothing has happened yet.
Judging by the tease from the project lead Jeff Gardiner, the private servers are indeed coming – and it’s going to happen sooner then we think according to his words. The developers are also considering the feature of a private test server, which would also help Fallout 76 greatly.
