Bethesda decided to skip normal beta test with Fallout 76 and rolled out only brief sessions limited to 4 or 8 hours. The rationale behind this decision was to stress test the game and see if the servers can sustain a high number of players logged in at the same time.
Despite the “stress tests”, the game was very buggy upon release with regular stutters and occasional disconnects. On top of that, it contains problems that are usually caught and mitigated during regular beta tests. We’ve covered a story about one player who had a character that couldn’t die and was always at 0 HP. Another Reddit user recently posted a way to enter the god mode in the game that can be reproduced.
According to u/TehSavior, you can become invincible, flying (kinda) and damage buffed in the game by taking a series of steps. Those steps include getting all mutations, applying certain perks and partying with mutated friends.
This kind of bug is exactly the reason why game developers do the beta tests. As u/TehSavior explained, with all the mutations the game freaks out and can’t evaluate the state of the character properly. There is no telling what other bugs of this kind still stay in the game, on top of the obvious problems, like stuttering and disconnects.
Fallout 76 is a $60 game with in-game transactions, which makes this story feel very surreal.
