ESL Pro League Season 8. Groups and Preview ⚡⚡⚡ Esports and gaming news, analytics, reviews on WePlay! The latest news on WePlay!

The ECS Finals Season 6 is behind us with the Astralis trio becoming the first millionaires in the Counter-Strike history. This time it could be another breaking point for them with the opportunity to earn another million dollars to their pockets. First team that will manage to win four of ten events organized by ESL or DreamHack will then took the sweet $1 million Intel Grand Slam trophy. This is the first chance for the Danes to actually make eSports history once again. Let’s have a deeper look on participating teams and group stage.

Group A

Astralis
BIG
Liquid
HellRaisers
Renegades
G2
INTZ
ViCi

Group B

MIBR
Natus Vincere
Ghost
North
NRG
mousesports
ORDER
Sharks

As you can see, Astralis and MIBR, the leading teams of the online divisions, securing the top seeds, while ViCi and Sharks were the bottom seeds. For Astralis it should not be a problem to get through the group stage and easily progress to the playoffs. However, the Brazilians have been placed in the “Group of Death” alongside four other top 10 teams, Natus Vincere (#2), mousesports (#7), NRG (#8) and North (#9).

For me personally, I can’t wait for the teams like NRG, North or BIG which are not the biggest aspirant for the trophy in Denmark, but are playing solid Counter-Strike these last few months (on the biggest events, not online). On the other hand, mousesports are coming back on top when STYKO was brought back to the active roster and this weekend in Texas Made in Brazil showed the whole world that the era of FalleN and co. will never die.

Organizers also revealed first match-ups of the day 1, let’s have a look:

Group A:

Astralis vs. ViCi
Renegades vs. HellRaisers
Liquid vs. G2
INTZ vs. BIG

Group B:

MIBR vs. Sharks
NRG vs. North
Ghost vs. mousesports
Natus Vincere vs. ORDER
