ESL has announced the rescheduling of ESL One Rio 2020 to November and the cancellation of the second Major for 2020.

ESL One Rio 2020 was originally set to take place on May 11 - 24. Now, the event will be held on November 19 - 22 in the planned venue, the Jeunesse Arena.

ESL One Rio 2020's rescheduling does, however, take the original slot for the second Major of the year, which has caused it to be canceled. Due to the cancelation, ESL One Rio 2020 will have an increased prize pool of $2 million, which is the biggest prize pool in Counter-Strike history.

Ulrich Schulze, Senior Vice President of Product at ESL, released a statement regarding the decision to reschedule ESL One Rio 2020, and cancel the second Major of 2020:

Our decision is an extremely tough one, but health and safety have to take absolute priority. Given the very difficult circumstances for live events, we still wanted to give the Brazilian fans the CS:GO Major they deserve. We ask everyone to stay safe and we are pleased to be able to continue to deliver some quality CS:GO esports content to the community during these troubling times, while we prepare the Rio Major for November.
