ESL tournament organizer has announced the third Dota 2 event in Birmingham, England - ESL One Birmingham 2020. The competition will start on May 26. However, the games in front of a live audience will begin only on May 29, and the Grand Finals will be held at Arena Birmingham on May 31.

ESL held the first tournament in Birmingham in 2018. The event had Major status then, and the CIS team Virtus.pro won in it. Last year the event was more modest, but a surprisingly large number of viewers watched it: a total of 7.6 million hours of viewing had accumulated by the end of the competition.

At ESL One Birmingham 2019, Team Secret became the winner.

Eight teams among twelve squads participating this year will be invited directly, and the remaining four teams will receive slots via the Regional Qualifiers. The main prize for ESL One Birmingham 2020 is $300.000. This tournament doesn't participate in the DPC system and won't have any DPC points for the teams.

In addition to Dota 2, an ESL Academy Grand Final with the $240.000 prize pool will take place at an event in Birmingham.
