ESAM shares his detailed SSBU 6.1.0 tier list

Panda Global Super Smash Bros. Ultimate player, Eric “ESAM” Lew dropped an SSBU tier list of his own. Its probably the meatiest one out there right now, clocking almost two and a half hours of content.

In his video, ESAM gives a lot of reasons for his picks, emphasizing character strengths and weaknesses. He also tries not to let tournament results be the main reasoning behind his picks, as the tier list should be relevant to all. Instead of classifying them by low, high and mid-tiers, ESAM uses a 10 point system with each increment at 0.5 points and the weakest character allocated 4 points.  

Right at the bottom is Dr. Mario for not being consistent, followed by King Dedede who he considers to be the worst heavy character. Adam "Armada" Lindgren had Dedede pegged as one of the best heavies in the game. Others rated 4 are Little Mac and Kirby. Ganondorf, Incineroar, and Bayonetta didn’t fare much better as they sit at 4.5.

At 6 we have Mii Brawler who ESAM admits he completely underestimated. There’s also MewTwo, Lucas, Captain Falcon, and Bowser Jr. He also agrees with the general assumption that Cloud was much better in Smash 4. Which is why he too falls into this group. For those with 8 points, we have Link, Bowser, Pichu, Yoshi, Ryu, Ken, Toon Link and the star of the rank, Greninja.

The 10 point superstars are just four characters, with Pokemon Trainer taking up the rear. Next is Shulk at #4, Peach at #3, Joker at #2, and Ash’s first pokemon, Pikachu at the top of the list. The thunder wielding cutey takes the number one spot for consistent wins in matchups against most of the top tier characters in addition to the other tiers.
