One of the greatest additions made to the Battle Royale formula by the recently released Apex Legends was the respawning mechanics, which allows you to bring back fallen teammates given you’ve acquired their banner. It was a pretty obvious addition, to be honest – just look at the name of the studio behind the game. Respawn it is.
And while this feature is currently available in Apex Legends only, it turns out that Epic Games has been considering the very same idea for quite some time. This information came directly from the recent Reddit AMA with Epic Games, and it shouldn’t be surprising that gamers asked the developers of Fortnite about the most exciting features available in the game if their competitors. While Epic is indeed considering the respawning mechanics for Fortnite, the studio still needs time to find out whether it adds to gameplay in a positive way. The devs left an intriguing remark that the players should wait for updates regarding this topic during Season 8.
As for Season 8, it is going to be pirate-themed and it’s just around the corner. The respawning might be actually introduced during the traditional rollout of new features as it often happens in Fortnite seasons. It is also worth noting that the flow of gameplay differs a lot in Fortnite and Apex, and what’s helpful in one game might turn useless in the other.
