ELiGE crowned MVP at ESL Pro League Season 9 finals ⚡⚡⚡ Esports and gaming news, analytics, reviews on WePlay! The latest news on WePlay!

In a recent interview with HLTV.org, Johnathan "ELiGE" Jablonowski talks about Liquid's victory in the ESL Pro League Season 9 finals. His team defeated Astralis, Mousesports and G2 to win the trophy at Montpellier.

Their last game was against G2, winning 3 maps in the best-of-five final. Securing their win on the fourth map, Inferno, ELiGE explained how the team had a bad start. They were making little mistakes, miscommunication abound and were generally under equipped.

However, once Liquid was on the T side, G2 began to make the same mistakes they had made. Playing it slow and achieving map control due to good reads, Liquid was able to secure their win.

Speaking about when the match entered overtime, he said, "I was feeling really confident, as soon as we made it to OT I was sure we were going to win." When asked if he felt the team was #1, ELiGE replied, "We're 100% the best team in the world. I think people just needed to see us beat Astralis, and we did that." Coming from the loser's bracket, Liquid was able to defeat its opponents every day in best-of-three matches.

Talking about his own play, ELiGE commended his teammates and how they kept getting him the SG553 to use, instead of themselves. "I just have a lot of confidence in everything I'm doing and my teammates are helping me a lot, too." Adding, "so I think it has been awesome how much my team has been supporting me."

He attributed his proficiency with the SG553 and AUG to his use of both right from the update they were introduced. "I think that the SG553 has a way higher skill-ceiling and a lower floor, so if you're not as good with it and don't practice the right way with it, then you're not going to be able to show how good the gun is."

Talking about ESL One Cologne, ELiGE brags about their two back-to-back, tournament wins and how the only top team they haven't defeated yet is Vitality. He is confident in their ability and high on their success, but still humble enough to admit that Liquid has some flaws it needs to fix in their play. He's also happy with the odds of them taking Intel Grand Slam
