After playing the Injustice series by the Mortal Kombat director Ed Boon you’ve probably dreamed of a similar game, but with Marvel heroes in it instead of DC. It turns out that such a project could’ve been developed, as Ed Boon himself has recently revealed.
In an interview for GameInformer, Ed Boon said that he has once actually been in talks with Marvel discussing the idea of developing a proper fighting game for the company. In his opinion, the greatest game though would’ve been a crossover called something like Marvel vs. DC – and it could’ve been an excellent display of the long-time rivalry between the two famous brands of comics. Sadly, Boon didn’t reveal when these talks were held exactly – before or after NetherRealm released original Injustice. Still, you can get the idea since NetherRealm belongs to Warner Bros., which has the rights to the DC universe. In other words, it’s hard to imagine that the company would let its studio work for the “enemy.”
Perhaps, there’s still a way for this idea to be implemented in a proper game by one of the creators of Mortal Kombat. Just imagine these viciously bloody battles between Marvel characters! And we personally would love to see a Fatality by Deadpool. Captain Deadpool.
