If you are an active Apex Legends player, then you should’ve at least a few times encountered early quitters while playing with randoms. There’re several reasons for such dishonest behaviour, although in some cases leaving the game early is the only thing left to do to avoid toxic players.

Apex Legends relies strongly on teamplay and cooperation, and while you can try to perform a few kills solely, only the most skilled players are capable of winning alone against squads. In other words, having a full team of three players is crucial, and that’s why early quitting is a major problem of playing with randoms. The recent update for Apex Legends introduced a 5-minute time penalty for those who leave three games in a row. You literally couldn’t start another game until the timer ran off. Unfortunately, this first implementation of battling the quitters’ problem has been rolled back since. The developers have recently clarified that the feature was launched prematurely, although it is still sort of planned for the game.

When – if – the time penalty returns, it will work the same way, although the periods when the game is unavailable to launch will be increasing after the next offences. In other words, the more you quit – the more you are being kept away from spoiling the game for others. We do hope the feature will come back one day.
