Formerly known as Project Z, Dragon Ball Z Kakarot was revealed via Microsoft’s E3 press conference on Sunday to be an action RPG which tells the tale of the titular character from the anime series.
There have been many Dragon Ball Z games in the past and this one sets itself apart by sheer scale. Being developed by CyberConnect2, the game adopts their familiar cell shading style in union with the Dragon Ball Z art.
During an IGN interview, it was revealed that the game actually won't be open world. However, it will have multiple areas, easter eggs, fishing and iconic scenes from the anime. The developer's goal is to recreate the world of the original manga (comic book) in all its glory.
Goku (Kakarot) is seen flying both atop the flying nimbus and unaided, engaging in combat alongside a companion and food will also play a special role in the game. Dragon Ball Z Kakarot will be released early 2020 on PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One.
