DreamHack has revealed that the first Masters event of 2020 will be in Jönköping, Sweden. DreamHack Masters Jönköping will feature a $250,000 prize pool, with ticket sales going live on January 10.
The first CS:GO Major was hosted in Jönköping back in 2013, and since then, Sweden has hosted other DreamHack Masters events in Malmo and Stockholm. The tournament will feature 16 teams determined via invites and qualifier events like DreamHack Leipzig and Anaheim, which take place from January 24-26, and February 21-23, respectively. It is also an Intel Grand Slam Season 3 event.
DreamHack co-CEO, Marcus Lindmark said in a statement:
"Bringing DreamHack Masters to Jönköping really highlights a historic significance. As DreamHack grew, so did our need for space to accommodate that expansion — resulting in what we now know as DreamHack Masters today, generally standalone tournaments taking place at arenas separated from our festivals.”
The tournament will hold from June 9-14 during the DreamHack Summer Festival at the Kinnarps Arena. Teams that make it to Jönköping will earn points towards ESL Pro Tour, with the top teams competing in ESL One: Cologne 2020 in July for the chance to win the lion’s share of the $1 million prize pool.
