Dr. Mario World comes to Android and iOS in July ⚡⚡⚡ Esports and gaming news, analytics, reviews on WePlay! The latest news on WePlay!

First announced in January, Nintendo has shared a release date alongside a “how to play” video for Dr Mario World. The clip also includes new mechanics and information about how the game will be monetised.

The free-to-play mobile game will launch on July 10, with its mechanics remaining faithful to the series. Give or take a few changes to make it appeal more to the mobile market and touch controls. Players will use coloured capsules of medicine to eliminate at least two same-coloured viruses. Capsules can be moved left, right and rotated just like similar puzzle games.

As most mobile games do, players will use stamina to play and once it runs out, they will either need to wait some time for it to replenish gradually or use the in-game currency. Microtransactions will take the form of diamonds which can be used to purchase a host of things including stamina, but the game also has gold for other standard purchases.

In Dr Mario World, players will be able to use other characters from the Mushroom Kingdom like Bowser, Toad and Peach. These characters will need to be unlocked with each having their own unique abilities to help achieve victory. Five stages will be available at launch but more have been promised in the future.
