Valve has announced plans for the 2018-2019 season

As the dust settles after The International 2018, Valve intents on improving the Dota Pro Circuit, whose first season launched in October 2017. Major structural changes and fewer events feeding into TI9 set to take place next summer in Shanghai are mainly what’s in the offing for professional DotA2 competition in the coming season.

An unannounced Minor will commence on the 29th of October, where the champions will get a direct seed to the recently announced Kuala Lumpur Major. Valve revealed the 2018-2019 season will see a total of 10 DPC-sanctioned tournaments, with $1 million on the line at each Major and 300,000$ up for grabs at each Minor. The tournaments will be paired, just like the aforementioned October Minor and the Kuala Lumpur Major, where the champions of the Minor get a direct seed to the Major. What’s more, each tournament offers teams a hefty amount of points, with 12 top finishers in the points ranking at the end of the year getting invited to compete in The International 2019

Here’s the point distribution:

MAJOR

  • 1 place – 33% (4950 points)
  • 2 place – 20% (3000 points)
  • 3 place – 14% (2100 points)
  • 4 place – 9% (1350 points)
  • 5-6 place– 6% (900 points)
  • 7-8 place – 3% (450 points)
  • 9-12 place – 1% (150 points)
  • 13-16 place – 0,5% (75 points)

MINOR

  • 1 place – 24% (120 points)
  • 2 place – 20% (100 points)
  • 3 place – 18% (90 points)
  • 4 place – 14% (70 points)
  • 5-6 place – 8% (40 points)
  • 7-8 place – 4% (20 points)

Valve also included an FAQ section in their announcement, which is worth having a look at.
