Regardless if he is a meta hero or not, there is no arguing that Shadow Fiend is one of the most legenday mid laners in Dota 2. He is often considered as the "king of the mid lane", and the hero that many people choose to play when they have to play in a 1v1 scenario. Even though every single meta has its top mid laners, Shadow Fiend always manage to be at least a little bt relevant, thanks to his high-damage capabilties. After all, this is the hero where you can safely say that his defence relies on his incredible offense.
That said, let's take a look at a couple of heroes that will have very hard time laning against SF. Keep it in mind that we're only taking about the laning stage. Once it's over, everything can happen.
The first hero on our list might come as a surprise to some because Storm can work very well against SF in the late game. However, during the laning stage, this are different. Although SS is a very strong laner thanks to his high armour and damage, he is no match for the insane dame output by SF. You will be able to easily bring him down once you reach level 3 or 5 if you harras him with your Shadowrazes all the time. Be sure to get a couple of mangos so you can have enough mana.
Even though Puck is capalbe of also doing a lot of damage, he is very, very squishy, which is where SF comes to play. If Puck does one wrong move, Shadow Fiend can easily kill him in just a matter of seconds using his razes. That's why evey Puck player needs to be very careful when they decide to make a risky play because it can all go downhill.
This is a very interesting matchup that can really go both ways, especially of the person who plays Meepo has a good idea of what he's doing. However, generally speaking, Shadow Fiend has the upper edge once again thanks to his damage. While it's true that Meepo has a lot of firepower, SF's ultimate plus his razes are more than enough to bring down the pesky rat.
