Dota 2: Three ways of winning against Anti-Mage

Introduction

There are a couple of Dota 2 heroes that are really hard to deal with. Some of them are only good during the early stages of the game, whereas others become a pain later on. One of those heroes that become incredibly strong during the late game is Anti-Mage. In fact, unless you play in a very specific way, dealing wit this hero is pretty much impossible. 

Having said that, let's take a look at three things that you can implement in your gameplay a use to your advantage against AM.

Pick a very stronger laner

Everything starts from the laning stage, and this is especially true for every hard carry. If you pick a very strong laner that's capable if harassing AM, he won't be able to farm as much at all. This means that he will have slower timings on his core items, which gives you more time to work with. Remember that the end goal is to win before the game reaches a state where AM becomes too strong.

Have at least one good counterpick

The second very important thing that you need to have is a hero that counters AM. Just in case things don't go as planned, there should be at least one hero in your team who is capable of dealing with AM. Unfortunately, there are not that many heroes in general that can do that. That said, here are a few names that can do the job:

• Legion Commander
• Phantom Assassin
• Meepo

Always try to kill him when he is farming alone

One of the most efficient ways of stopping AM is to constantly kill him. Even though this is definitely easier said than done if you use a Smoke of Deceit, you should be able to easily pick him off while he is blinking for camp to camp. Once you successfully bring him down, you need to use the time while he's dead to your advantage. Try to get some objectives and aggressive vision so that AM can be in danger while he is farming the next time.
