Alchemist is one of the strongest Dota 2 heroes when it comes down to pub games. He is capable of carrying his team with little to no efforts, as long as he gets a good start of the game. However, since the hero is the fastest farmer in Dota 2, it's very important to buy the right items so that he can have the impact that you'd want him to have. 

Generally speaking, there are two ways in which you can play with him - either focusing on the late game or trying to fight as much as you can in the mid-game. The main difference between both item build comes down to whether or not you'll buy a Radiance. With that out of the way, here are some of the best items that you can buy for this hero.

Radiance

The first item that's definitely worth purchasing is Radiance. This probably doesn't come as a surprise because this is the item that enables Alch to farm even faster and deal a lot of damage in fights. If the hero has a good farming game, he can easily buy this item within 12 minutes, or sometimes even less.

Blink Dagger

This is a very popular item that Alch players tend to go for whenever they want to participate in fights. It's cheap and allows him to jump and fight all the time, which is great in most cases.

Assault Cuirass 

This is a classic item for this hero because it gives him a lot of survivability. As you know, Alch is not really the tankiest hero whenever he doesn't have his ult on, so it's always good to have some extra armour.

Octarine Core

A few patches ago, this used to be one of the most popular items for Alchemist. However, that's not the case in the last couple of months. Now, the hero mainly tries to get items that will allow him to fight.
