Dota 2 Mid Matchups - Invoker vs Templar Assassin - Who will win?

Introduction

Invoker and Templar Assassin are one of the most popular mid lanes in the world. Even though Invoker is definitely more popular, TA has slowly but steadily catching up because it's a truly fantastic hero to play with. In fact, TA is often considered to be counter to Invoker in many aspects, but that's not always the case.

Let's take a look at the advantages and disadvantages of both of those heroes during the laning stage.

Strength and Weaknesses of Invoker

It doesn't come as a surprise that Invoker is one of the most diverse Dota 2 heroes. There are many ways in which you can play him, depending on what you're playing against. Even though the vast majority of players prefer to max Exort first, going Quas/Wex against TA is definitely very strong. Sure, you won't be able to deal as much damage as you would on exort, but you have a lot of control.

Unfortunately, Invoker's biggest weakness is the fact that he is very fragile. As a result, TA can easily harras him, especially with Psi-Blades, which is one of the strongest passive skills in the laning stage. 

Strength and Weaknesses of Templar Assassin

Many people consider TA to be one of the kings (queens) of the mid lane. That's due to the fact that she deals tons of physical damage thanks to her Refraction and Psi Blades. Those two spells are capable of bullying pretty much everyone from the lane. To make matters worse, one wrong move after she gets to level 6 will almost certainly cost his life.

The only way in which TA can have a hard lane against Invoker is if he plays extremely aggressive early on. He has to constantly hit her and don't allow her to utilize her damage to the fullest. However, even this might not be enough.

Conclusion

It's safe to say that Templar Assassin is the heavy winner in this match. Sure, Invoker might have a decent laning but winning the lane itself is pretty hard.
