Dota 2 can be an entertaining game to play, especially when you're in the winning seat. Even though it's a very complex game to play, also if you don't have that much knowledge about it, it is possible to have certain games where you will crush your enemies.
However, in most cases, you will find yourself being the one who gets pressured the most. Dealing with this can be a pretty annoying thing to do. One of the first things you need to learn is what kind of defensive items to buy. Unfortunately, you can't do these "glass cannon" builds nowadays, which means that you should nearly always have a defensive item.
Without further ado, here are some of the best defensive items.
Eul's Scepter of Divinity
This item can be extremely useful in certain situations. Not only is it pretty cheap to get, but it also provides a decent amount of mana, as well as mana regeneration. It's the only downside is that it's not really worth purchasing if you're not an intelligence hero. Even though it's only around 2800 gold, it's still not a small amount to spend on an item that won't give you any proper stats.
On the other hand, if you're an intelligence hero, this is as good as it gets.
Black King Bar
BKB is the king of defensive items in Dota 2. Regardless if you're strength, agility, or an intelligence hero, getting a Black King Bar is nearly always a good idea. Apart from one neutral item, this is the only thing in Dota 2 that makes you spell immune. This is something that every single player needs at one point in the game. Whether you want to cast a long-channeling spell or you have to be in the middle of the fight to be effective, BKB is always there to help you.
The only thing that you need to keep in mind is that with every use, its duration lowers. However, the lowest you can get is 5 seconds, which is still pretty good.
This is probably one of the most underrated items in Dota 2, at least in the lower MMR brackets. It costs around 2100 gold, which is nothing in comparison to the value you get from it. Force Staff can be used defensively and aggressively, depending on the situation. However, the thing that makes it unique is that you can use it through cliffs, trees, and pretty much anything.
In other words, this is a cheap and easy way to get out of danger in certain situations.
These are probably the best defensive items in Dota 2 right now. Besides, a Linkin's Sphere can also work wonders in certain situations. Be sure to try all of them so that you can get comfortable using them.
