Dota 2 - How to Lane against Underlord

Introduction

There are many offlaner heroes that are capable of making your laning stage a living nightmare. Even though Underlord is not necessarily the worst hero to lane against, he can be pretty annoying, especially if you're a melee hero. Thanks to his spamming ability, he is capable of farming relatively easy, while also keeping you away from the creep wave.

That's why we decided to give you a few tips that you can implement whenever you have to lane against this hero.

Don't stay in the Firestorm

Many people tend to underestimate this ability but Firestorm is actually very strong, especially when you're playing a strength hero. Apart from the base damage, it also burns a certain percentage of your HP, which means that it can reduce your health a lot. Naturally, you have to try and avoid tanking this spell as much as you can. Whenever you see that Underlord uses it, simply move backward and wait until it's over.

Try to zone him before he gains levels

Similar to other offlaners out there, Underlord is capable of doing a lot of damage but he needs the levels to do so. During the first couple of levels, he isn't really that strong, which is why you need to do everything in your power to kill him as often as you can. Once he becomes level 5 and above, he will become a lot tankier and kill him will be a lot harder.

Don't engage into a fight if some of your team-mates die near him

Last, but definitely not least, you have to always be aware of what's happening around you. Thanks to Underlord's third skill, he can accumulate loads of damage whenever an enemy hero dies near him. As a result, you have to try and avoid fighting whenever that happens because Underlord will easily bring you down.
