Dota 2 - How to lane against Treant Protector

Usually, when you're going to a lane, the first thing that you're thinking about is what you need to do in order to win it. While it's true that in the vast majortiy of cases you have to only think about the enemy core hero, that's not always true. 

There are several support heroes that ara capalbe of complety destroy your laning stage and Treant Protector is one of them. Even though you might think that this hero isn't that strong, that's just false. Treant has the highest starting right-click damage out of any hero in Dota 2. This makes him very prone to harrassing, especially heroes that are very weak.

Having said that, here are a couple of things that you need to remember when laning against this pesky hero.

Get a Quelling Blade

Trent's main strength is his ability to be invisible while he is next to a tree. That's why, apart from having Senty Wards, you should also get a Quelling Balde, regardless if you're the core or the support. This item has a very short coolodown and allows you to easily destroy several trees in just a matter of seconds. When this happens, you will pretty much weaken Treant a lot because he won't be able to sneak up on you and deal tons of damage.

Don't overextend if you're not sure where he is 

Another important thing that you need to keep in mind is related to your positioning. As we've mentioned above, Treant Protector has the highest righ-click damage in the first couple of levels. As a result (especially when he has an Orb of Venom), this hero is capalbe of killing you very fast if you're caught out of position. 

That's why it is very important to constantly be aware of your own position and where Treant is. The last thing you want is to get caught without having someone to help you because this will result in a kill.

Pick a decent hero 

Even though it's not advisable to pick a hero just to counter a support, if you want to Treant's life a living hell, there are a couple of good heroes to pick. Without a doubt, the two best heroes against this annoying support is Treant Protector and Timbersaw. Bot of them have abilities that can bring down trees very fast, which is reducing Treant's effectiveness a lot.
