Introduction
Dota 2 is a game that has many interesting elements and mechanics. One of the things that make this game so great is the ability to do smoke ganks. This is a term that's used whenever one or more heroes use a Smoke of Deceit in an attempt to kill an enemy hero. Usually, these gank take place in the early game but it is possible to see them at pretty much all stages of the game.
Even though this seems like a very easy thing to do, that's not always the case. That's why we've decided to make a list of all important aspects that you need to be aware of before you decide it's time to gank.
Always check for wards
The first most important thing is to check whether or not you're "smoking" under a ward. If that's the case, you will just waste your time and gold for nothing because the enemy team will be expecting it.
So, buy Sentry Wards or a Gem of True Sight and check if the location is clear. If there are no wards there, pop the smoke and make your move.
Don't stay too close to each other
As you know, the smoke will disappear once you get too close to an enemy hero. So, in order to avoid the reveal of everyone, you have to try and stay separate from each other. The best thing, in this case, is to let someone "tank". By doing this, the enemy team won't be suspecting that you're attempting to gank them.
Make sure you have vision
The last thing that you need to do keep in mind when it comes down to smoke ganks is once again related to vision. However, this time, it's all about the vision that you need to have. There is no point to go for a gank if you have no idea what's happening on that side of the map. So, the best thing to do in this situation is to either have an Observer Ward yourself, or just plant one before you even go there.
