Introduction
Although Slardar is a pretty famous offlaner, there are many people who love to pick this hero and carry their team. Even though this hero hasn't been in the carry meta for years now, you can occasionally see him farming creeps. Although many people tend to underestimate him, Slardar is capable of inflicting absurd amounts of physical damage, especially if he has the right items. So, here are few things that you need to know if you decide to pick this hero to use him as a carry.
You need to buy the proper items
The first important step that you need to make before the mid game arrives is to get the right items. Luckily, that's not really hard when it comes down to Slardar because the hero mainly uses a few carry items:
- Armlet
- Desolator
- Assault Cuirass
- Black King Bar
- Satanic
- Moon Shard
Of course, you will also need to get some sort of a proper initiating tool. This can be either a Blink Dagger or a Shadow Blade, depending on what kind of enemies you're up against.
Make sure to farm as much as possible
One of the main issues that Slardar carry players need to deal with is the fact that the hero just doesn't farm as fast as other carries. This means that you have to try and secure every last hit possible. If you're having any issues while doing this, it's probably a good idea to buy a Hands of Midas. Although this item is expensive, it will provide you with a lot of gold in the long-run, which can make a difference in the later stages of the game.
Get an Aegis as soon as possible
Even though Slardar is not Ursa, he is one of the heroes that benefit a lot from an Aegis. That's due to the fact that he is one of the best initiators in Dota 2. As a result, he has to jump in so that he can land that stun and start hitting people. However, this also means that he can be in great danger because he will be the first hero that will be attacked by the enemies.
Of course, this all changes once that Aegis arrives because he can jump in freely, pop his BKB and kill at least one hero. Then, once he dies, he will be back with full HP and mana, ready to fight.
