The well-known western carry player, Dominik "Black^" Reitmeier, has been released from Fnatic, the organization announced Thursday.
The team's sub, Ahmad "ADTR" Syazwan bin Anuar, will stand-in as the team's carry player.
Fnatic did not have a strong fall season. They qualified for ESL One New York 2015, the Nanyang Championships and the Frankfurt Major, but they finished in last place in all of them.
The roster change does not come as a surprise, but it is surprising that Black^ was the player to be dropped. His stats put him as one of the top performers in the patch overall — with the seventh highest GPM, the eleventh highest KDA and the least deaths of any player.
However, his performance may not have been the problem as Chong "Ohaiyo" Xin Khoo said in the statement that "the synergy [was] simply not there."

Black^ is one of the most veteran players in the scene — he's played for teams from every region and according to the statement he's not done just yet.
"I'm still hungry and on the hunt, now probably more motivated than I've been for a very long time," his statement read. "I'm not sure where I'll end up going but I'll definitely still be playing."
