Introduction
Dota 2 is one of the most fun games to play once you actually learn how to do it. However, before you get the chance to do that, you need to download the game first. Luckily, this is a straightforward and fast process that shouldn't take you that much time, as long as you have a decent internet connection.
Without further ado, here is what you need to do to get started with Dota 2.
Create a Steam Account
The first challenge ahead if you is to create a Steam Account. This can be done either by downloading the client first, or you can simply visit Steam's website and do it from there. However, you will still have to download the client later, so it's best to create the account from there.
Once ready, search for Dota 2 in Steam's game library and just start downloading the game. Keep it in mind that it is relatively big, so if your internet connection is not that good, it might take some time for you to get download it.
Launch the game
After it's ready, simply select the Dota 2 icon and wait for the game to launch. Congratulations, you are now in Dota 2! Having said that, before you start playing, there are a couple of notable things that you need to do.
- Go to settings and change every single option to your liking. We can't stress this enough how important it is to do this step. There are many players who tend to ignore it, only to find out later that they can't use half of their abilities.
- If you are new to the game, finish the tutorial. This is yet another no-brainer that many people tend to skip. However, the tutorial is very important for every new Dota 2 player because it allows him to get an idea of what's going and what to expect.
- Queue up for a typical match. Once you're done with the steps above, you are now ready to queue up for your first normal match. Be sure to invite any friends you might have in Dota 2 so that they can give you some advice. However, if you have no one to play with, pick the hero that you played in the tutorial with. After all, you will at least know what his spells are.
