Dota 2: Dealing with Sniper

Introduction

Dota 2 has a couple of heroes that need special attention when you're playing against them and Sniper is definitely one of those heroes. Even though this hero can be very weak early on, once he gets a couple of items, he is capable of doing some insane amounts of damage, which is why it's very important to know how to deal with him in some situations.

Usually, Sniper is very squishy, which is why you can often see him being picked alongside defensive supports such as Omniknight for example. This makes him incredibly hard to kill, which allows him to just stand back and deal damage.

Having said that, here are three things you need to remember when you have to play against Sniper.

Always have a hero that's good against him

Picking a counterpick against Sniper is a MUST, even if you're not that type of a player. Generally speaking, not everyone likes to wait just so he can counterpick an enemy hero. However, in the case of Sniper, this is just necessary because unless there is a hero that can deal with him, Sniper will be able to eventually carry the game.

There are many good heroes against Sniper, such as :

• Phantom Assassin
• Spirit Breaker and Lifestealer
• Storm Spirit, and more.

Always try to bring him or his pocket healer first

Once the teamfight begins, coordinating your actions with your team-mates is a must. However, when you have to face Sniper, you just have to prioritize him or his support hero over the rest because if you don't, you will almost certainly lose the team fight.

There are many ways in which you can gank Sniper, such as using a Smoke of Deceit or just patiently waiting for him to get out of position. That said,it depends a lot on what type of heroes you have in your lineup.

Get disabling items 

Last, but definitely not least, you also have to think about what items to get. Although it is always tempting to stack as many damage items as possible, when you play against heroes such as Sniper, having the right items can be the difference between a win or a loss.

There are many good items against Sniper, such as Abyssal Blade, Scythe of Vyse, Force Staff, and more. A very interesting choice can be a Blade Mail, especially in some situations. This item is very underrated but it has the power to quickly turn things around.
