BioWare released the original Jade Empire game for Xbox in 2005. It combined a dynamic combat system and a non-linear approach to Star Wars: Knight of the Old Republic dialogues. The BioWare studio was acquired by Electronic Arts, beginning the era of Mass Effect series.
Today there is information that Electronic Arts has registered the Jade Empire trademark, which is covering new directions. Among them are “entertainment services providing an on-line computer game” and “provision of information relating to electronic computer games provided via the Internet.”
It is worth noting that it can’t be a multiplayer game since the trademark covers only auxiliary tools. Electronic Arts complements the existing brand with new features in this way, and this may mean that the new Jade Empire game is in development, in which will be a multiplayer mode, like in the previous three BioWare games.
The plot of Jade Empire game tells about a single fighter living in a peaceful village who is the best student of the master Li’s martial arts school. His teacher was kidnapped, and the main character begins the path of the protagonist. A large number of action, fast battles and high dynamics helped the game to become a unique role-playing game, ported to the PC in 2007.
We don't know yet whether a full-fledged sequel or remaster is in operation for current platforms, but the likelihood that this was done not only to protect the rights of their intellectual property is extremely high. On the other hand, we can hardly expect news on this topic soon, because BioWare is very busy with the Anthem’s development and support. This game is in dire need of post-release content.
