As we draw ever closer to February and the release of DLC Challenger 5 in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the more speculation grows. Devil May Cry 5 voice actor Brian Hanford adds his ideas to the pool.
During an AMA with JoJo Wifi, Hanford made a statement that sounded like an affirmation that DMC protagonist Dante would be coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as the next DLC character.
“To be part of Marvel vs Capcom or Super Smash Bros, or both, which is what Dante is going to be, it’s like, come on. That’s what I want. I would love that.”
Hanford voiced V, the new Devil May Cry character that joins the playable cast in the latest release. It turns out he's a huge fan of the Super Smash Bros. franchise but only started playing Devil May Cry after he got his role. However, Dante was on the long list of possible DLC 5 characters floating around the internet until popular Super Smash Bros. leaker Sabi disconfirmed Dante for DLC 5.
Sabi also noticed the AMA and mentioned that although he was sure Dante wouldn't be in DLC Challenger Pack 5, that doesn't prevent him from being in the post-pass. No mention has been made about the characters that will arrive in the second wave of DLC coming to the game, so all hope isn't lost.
Hanford goes on to say that Nero would make a much better pick for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate if he puts his bias aside. This statement sort of indicates that he could have merely misspoken when he talked about Dante in Smash and Marvel vs Capcom as he's now clearly speculating.
Whatever the case, February isn't too far now, so official news regarding DLC Challenger 5 should be close at hand. You can check out the Kirby main's statement in the YouTube video below.
