Yesterday brought the conclusion of the BLAST Premier qualifier event, Elisa Invitational. The American esports organization, Dignitas, secured their ticket to BLAST Premier Spring 2020 European Showdown after defeating Heroic in the Finals.
Working their way up from the Semifinals, Dignitas’ first victory of the day was against North. Moving on to the Finals, they had to face Heroic, the team that topped Group B during the initial stage of the tournament.
The predominantly Swedish squad went into the Finals on fire, and although they lost the opening rounds, Dignitas more than made up for it with a 12-round win streak. Heroic made a strong comeback in the second half of Inferno but failed to stop Dignitas’ second win streak, which earned them the map.
Determined to prevent a repeat of the first map, Heroic took control of Dust II and held on to it fast, getting them the win. With just one more map left, Nuke, both teams knew what was at stake, but try as they did, Heroic just couldn’t keep Dignitas down in the first round. In the second, they fared much better, but Dignitas managed to inch their way to victory following a lot of back-and-forths.
