Devil May Cry 5 got a warm reception from PC players judging by the fact that the initial player count was the second best for Capcom after Monster Hunter: World. Looks like players are really keen on the Japanese idea of hunting regardless of whether it involves demons or monsters.
The newest chapter in the iconic slasher series peaked at 88,735 players, and it’s unlikely there’s another game from Capcom coming in the nearest future to reach the same level of popularity. Monster Hunter: World has an all-time peak of 329,333 players, and this achievement is going to stay for years to come. Needless to say, the record won’t be broken by Devil May Cry 5. Despite being a long-awaited title, the latest entry does not have all the traits that made Monster Hunter: World so popular. It was the first game in the series to ever release on PC, and by the moment it came out, the game already had a highly positive response from the console gaming community. It’s also an online project, and games belonging to this type generally tend to attract more players.
Still, Devil May Cry 5 managed to dethrone the previous Capcom’s second best title on Steam – Resident Evil 2. The remake drew the attention of 74,024 players at its peak, and Devil May Cry 5 is already ahead of it.
