New York City’s fighting game Major, Defend The North has announced the cancellation of the 2020 edition. They join several other tournaments that have either been canceled or postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The organizers are offering refunds to all those that have already purchased tickets. Still, there’s also the option of deferring refunds and transferring their tickets to next year’s event instead. Those that used booking websites will also have their hotel rooms canceled.

Although the next event, Defend The North 2021, will take place from July 16-18, the organizers encouraged fans to support all North-East streamers and online tournaments, as they will be doing. The FGC has always relied on the support of the fans, players, and organizers, with the pandemic only reinforcing the fact.

Defend The North 2020 was supposed to take place from July 17-19 at the New Yorker Hotel.
