Death Stranding doesn’t have a specific release date yet, and the title is probably a long way from hitting the shelves. In case you belong to Hideo Kojima’s fans army, you’ll be upset to learn that the game is behind the schedule. However, just a little bit behind, as the iconic Japanese developer clarified himself.
Kojima revealed the information in an interview with J-Wave. He said, that the development team didn’t meet the initial internal planned release schedule, but there’s nothing to worry about as such things happen pretty often. Moreover, Death Stranding is not that much out of schedule – and none of us really knew any details on that schedule to start with. In other words, nothing has changed for a common gamer. You had to wait – and you do still have to wait. Still, a few years ago Kojima hinted that we might see the release of Death Stranding in 2018 – which never happened, as you might recall. Right now, we all wonder whether the game will see the light of day in 2019 or not.
During an interview with J-Wave, Kojima also touched upon the challenges of developing an open world game, which is also brand new in terms of gameplay. Kojima-san said these challenges directly affect the development process and the time that is put into it.
