The Telegraph UK has published a brief interview with the creators of the hardcore Dark Souls and Bloodborne games — From Software studio and their main game designer Hidetaka Miyazaki. It turned out that Miyazaki and his team would not mind trying their hand at a new genre for themselves — the Battle Royale.
These games are definitely fun. And we're interested in the patterns they are taking. If we did it, it might be a bit different! But we're definitely interested and there's definitely that possibility in the future. We'd love to take a crack at them some day.
The game designer didn't start building any theories about what could be the Battle Royale made by From Software. The studio has not worked with projects and multiplayer modes of this scale yet. For example, the multiplayer mode of the updated Dark Souls can consist of only six players.
At the same time, Miyazaki expressed confidence in the viability of singleplayer projects like Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice or Devil May Cry 5. The game designer believes that the well-being of the gaming industry stands on a balance between quality one-player-storytelling games like God of War, AAA-multiplayer project and all other genres. According to the developer, it is diversity that makes gaming move forward.
