“Greatbow was used by the Dragonslayers during the age of the gods. Far greater in size than any normal bow, and far more devastating.

The bow must be anchored to the ground when fired, a time-consuming operation that leaves the user vulnerable. Only specialized great arrows can be fired from the bow.

Skill: Puncturing Arrow

Masterfully fires off a great arrow that pierces through all enemies in its path, inflicting damage” (In-Game Description)

Dragonslayer bow is one of the rare ranged weapons in Dark Souls 3 and one of three Greatbows in the game. The combination of its slow draw rate and at the same time impressive damage turns this bow into a real hand cannon, and especially considering how big the arrows are, it’s not hard to believe that it was formerly used for killing dragons with.

What about the stats?

As mentioned before, this bow is extremely slow and requires a deployment, not to mention the great amounts of Dexterity to be able to wield it properly, as well as Strength. However, not that much of the latter one as Onislayer Greatbow requires. Keep in mind that Dragonslayer Greatbow can only fire Greatartows and no other types. Strategically, you should use this weapon to attack from distance to avoid being run down by enemies while you’re drawing your arrows. The whole process completely immobilizes you, so choose the position wisely to safely deal huge damage this bow provides. And while you’re firing from the same spot, each Greatarrow shot will push you back a bit. That makes necessary the regular reposition for a wielder to prevent terrain from obstructing the fire.

Locating the Dragonslayer

The bow is located at Irithyll of the Boreal Valley. After the Pontiff Sulyvahn bonfire, Silver Knights with bows can be found on your way to Anor Londo. Three of them have a chance to drop the Dragonslayer Greatbow. If you weren’t lucky enough - go to the city and loot the certain corpse, it’s on a ledge past Pontiff Sulyvahn's boss room and below the flying buttresses where the greatbow-wielding Silver Knights are posted, it will also contain some arrows too.
