The CS:GO Professional Players Association (CSPPA) has announced changes to the dates for both the 2020 Summer player break and the 2020/2021 Winter player break.
Following a request made by tournament organizers to move the player break, CSSPA consulted with Valve, DreamHack, ESL, Flashpoint, StarLadder, and player representatives to arrive at a decision. The 2020 Summer player break had initially been planned for July 15 - August 15, but will now be July 6 - August 6. As for the 2020/21 Winter player break, it will take place from December 21 - January 17.
The 2020 summer player break will be from 6 July 2020 to 6 August 2020 (both days included). The 2020/21 winter player break will be from 21 December 2020 to 17 January 2021.

These changes were sought due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic on the CS:GO calendar, its players, and tournament organizers. Many events have been forced to cancel or postpone—the most recent changes being to ESL One Cologne and IEM Melbourne.
ESL One Cologne was set to begin on July 6 but will now take place from August 21-30. IEM Melbourne, on the other hand, was postponed to next year.
