In less than half a day before IEM Katowice Major kicked off, Valve has released a new update which brings changes to the radar. The community and pro players were struggling with a bug which allowed players to see the enemies through a smoke via radar.
One of the best Brazilian support players, Epitacio "TACO" de Melo from MiBR brought it up a Twitter post in which he hoped of raising awareness of the bug that has been in the game for an extended period of time.
Hey my lovely @ESLCS, I know it must be late but I have 2 requests:
— Epitácio (@TACOCS) February 11, 2019
1- Make hats allowed again
2- Ban this RADAR bind that make it possible to see our opponents on the radar before the smoke fades.
The #2 is really important. I want real CS. #FairPlay
Valve responded in less than 24 hours and fixed the radar issue immediately, which is kind of big thing considering that most of the time, the game developer don't listen to the community too much, not even pros:
We've fixed a rather pesky smoke exploit in today's update. Release Notes here: https://t.co/o3xdu5wemP

You can see the in-game changes in the following video:
The whole update is listed below:
– Fixed the ‘radar spotting enemies through smoke’ mechanic to behave the same regardless of the game server tickrate, and to not reveal enemies on the opposite side of the smoke until the smoke effect dissipates.
– Increased size of rendering queues for OSX and Linux game clients to address crashes when playing Danger Zone.
This radar bug used a lot of professional players, however, Astralis players were most criticized by this, while using this during the most official matches. We will see how it will affect the scene, but it seems that most of the players welcomed this update with open arms. #metoo
