CS:GO has broken its record for peak players for the once again.

CS:GO's player base has been on the rise since late 2019, and it doesn't appear to be slowing down anytime soon. In August of 2019, the game saw a peak of 647,461 players, which was a pretty high number. The game's original record was 874,875 in April 2016. But, the most current peak of 901,305 blows that one out of the water.

It's a little unclear what has caused such a massive surge in numbers since massive changes like Danger Zone and the free-to-play model came out months ago. The new operation, Shattered Web, was released in November 2019, which probably caused a pretty good surge of players, but that alone doesn't fully explain the continued growth into 2020

It will be interesting to see if CS:GO can break the one million mark in 2020. These results may also be a good indicator for Valve to release another Operation relatively soon after Shattered Web ends. Operation Hydra ended in November 2017, and Shattered Web came in November 2019. This long gap between new content was discouraging for CS:GO players, and we can only hope that Valve will not leave us, and this surge of new players, out to dry for so long again.
