CS: GO has celebrated its 2-year anniversary

Multiplayer shooter Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has reached its two-year age mark.

The "youngest" game in the family of Counter-Strike online shooters was released on August 21, 2012. The developers of Valve Corporation and Hidden Path Entertainment decided not to reinvent the wheel, and this time they just slightly "tweaked" the graphics/physics in a novelty, in comparison with its predecessor CS: Source. The main focus was directed to the game models. Although even here, all the major changes touched only the modification of maps, skins and "assortment" of models of players and weapons by increasing their types and kinds. Gamers got the new kinds of exploding devices, some new guns and the most important thing – the renewed arms balance in which, for example, a kill done by a cheaper weapon brings more points.

Within the two years of its existence, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive managed to prove itself as one of the main eSports discipline of the world. A major part of this merit belongs to the developers of Valve, which regularly were consulting with the best pro-gamers and made certain changes to the game aimed at the improvement of its competitive component. Also such major tournaments on CS: GO as DreamHack Winter 2013 and ESL One Cologne in 2014 were held, and hundreds of thousands viewers around the world watched them.

As we can see, the tactics "the best is the enemy of good" worked very well. And in result everyone remained pleased: developers of Valve and huge army of fans. Two years ago, without making fundamental changes, the developers of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive once again wrapped the same sweet candy sample of 2000 into a new wrapper.
