Nine years later after its initial release, Crackdown 2 becomes available on Xbox One via the backwards compatibility program for Xbox 360 titles. It’s a great way to relieve the experience of your favourite games from the previous generation, but in regards to the Crackdown series, in particular, it’s yet another subtle step in the continued promotion of Crackdown 3.
Unfortunately, Crackdown 3 is nowhere close to the greatness of the original game. A somewhat similar story happened to Crackdown 2 as well. Scottish developers from the Ruffian studio were responsible for the rushed creating of the sequel, which couldn’t live up to high expectations of the fans despite being a pretty decent game nonetheless. Still, we now have a complete trilogy, which you can play entirely on Xbox One via the Xbox Game Pass subscription. Moreover, Crackdown 2 – in the same fashion as the original game – is completely free to download and play on its own.
Now that Crackdown 3 is out in the wild with mediocre scores it’s safe to say that the series is over in its initial form. Microsoft needs to reboot the whole franchise from the ground in case the company wants to engage its player base further with new entries.
