Today, Epic Games shared the details regarding the upcoming competitive year for Fortnite, which will provide the esports players with huge prize pools to win. In total, 2019 will offer $100,000,000 worth of prizes, and the company plans to host Fortnite World Cup Finals, which will alone have a $30,000,000 prize pool. The rest of the money will be distributed evenly between the other events throughout the year.
100 top solo players and 50 top duos will participate in the World Cup Finals, and each contender is guaranteed to win at least $50,000 just by hitting the main event. Ninja The solo winner will take home $3,000,000 – now is the time to tell your mom that esports can earn you a living. Epic also trickily promises to include additional game modes for the side tournaments in case some players are not that happy with the Battle Royale mode. These competitions will be held on a weekly basis with a $1,000,000 prize pool each, so you can look forward to them. One of the top players, Jake “Poach” Brumleve, confirmed that Epic is indeed looking into the possibility to shift away from the Battle Royale format only.
Jake revealed that he had a few words with Epic, and the developers are considering a few changes to the existing tournament formula. He specifically mentioned Creative mode, which means that we might see some brand new modes given the company decides to develop them in the first place. Common players are already competing in custom game modes, and it’s pretty interesting to see what the developers themselves can come up with.
