Activision announced that Blackout in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will be available for free throughout April starting today for all platforms (PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One). Such an offer looks like an excellent attempt to attract an additional gaming audience, consisting of fans of the genre, accustomed to the free-to-play distribution model, which is exploited by Fortnite and Apex Legends. Although, as usual, you will need to have an active subscription to PlayStation Plus for PS4 and Xbox Live Gold for Xbox One.
Along with this, a second location has been added to the Battle Royale. The map presents the notorious Alcatraz prison. It is much smaller in size than the standard one, which will make matches more dynamic and richer.
The action in Alcatraz will unfold on a foggy island with many locations that lead to a large prison on top of a hill. The map will require players to apply new strategies and tactics: they will land, arm and lead the battle at close and distant ranges. And there will be Zombies, of course, you have to shoot back to prevent their attacks in the narrow aisles of Alcatraz prison.
The map is already available on the PlayStation 4, and it will get to the PC and Xbox One and a week later, April 9.
In the meantime, the developers have published a trailer for Alcatraz - fans (and not only) of Blackout should be happy.
The new map will be available until April 30, along with the standard Blackout map. Players will have the opportunity to choose any of them before the battle begins.
