The Polish developer CD Projekt Red, known for Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 has established a new Polish company in the framework, by acquiring the majority stake of Spokko. Moreover, they have already started working on the new mobile game.

The access to some intellectual property of CD Projekt Red has been promised to Spokko. However, they are keeping a secret of what exactly Spokko are working on.

The President of The CD Projekt Group, Adam Kiciński commented on their relationship with Spokko, « We have known the people behind Spokko for several years. They approached us with an interesting idea based on one of our brands – an idea we decided to invest in. We want to expand our business with innovative concepts and solutions, and the vision presented to us by the Spokko team represents an entirely novel creative angle. The new studio will be largely independent. We intend to provide it with a distinct identity and creative autonomy, in line with the philosophy which has long guided the actions of the CD PROJEKT Group».

In fact, the co-founder of Spokko, Maciej Weiss mentioned that he was delighted by CD Projekt Red’s decision to invest in their company. Maciej was so excited that he slightly lifted the veil of secrecy and stated that game they are working on for CD Projekt is « far more advanced and ambitious»  than casual titles they used to make before.

Weiss said they are joyful to work on some progressive and significant tasks. Hence, they are thrilled to take on some challenges.

The headquarters of Spokko are in Warsaw and they are currently hiring 3D animation artists, game developers, art QA, network programmers, QA testers and character concept artists. Since, CD Projekt Red has already released Gwent on mobile devices, whatever Spokko is currently engaged in, won't be their first mobile game.

Among other things, CD Projekt Red is expected to make some announcement about Cyberpunk 2077 this week during Gamescom.
