Capcom will host a Street Fighter V: CE summer update on August 5 ⚡⚡⚡ Esports news, analytics, reviews on WePlay! The latest news on WePlay!

When Bandai Namco announced the Japan Fighting Game Publishers Roundtable on July 27, they also revealed the companies that would take part in the livestream. Seeing Capcom on the list, many assumed that this would be the day we get some Street Fighter V reveals, but that's not all Capcom has planned for fans.

Today the company announced an event of its own in which we'll be joining the Street Fighter V development team to get an update on the game. What makes it different from what they've got planned for Japan Fighting Game Publishers Roundtable is unclear, but it looks like fans will be getting a double dose of Street Fighter V in the coming days.

As we've been patiently waiting for news regarding the identities of the Season 5 characters, it appears Capcom is finally ready to share. The tweet states that the Capcom event will feature character reveals, esports news, and more. It's unclear whether we'll be getting a look at all five characters or just a few. As for esports news, Capcom Pro Tour's transition into an online event this year hasn't been the smoothest experience. As things have been silent on the Tournament Mode and netcode front, maybe the developer has made new strides on both projects that could improve Street Fighter V esports.

Let's not forget that Season 5 also has new stages and costumes to show off, so there's lots to look forward to from Capcom. Whatever their plan is for Japan Fighting Game Publishers Roundtable (new game?), we'll definitely be finding out what's in store for Street Fighter V: Champion Edition in the next couple of days.

The Street Fighter V: Champion Edition Summer update event will begin at 10:00 am PDT on August 5. Catch the stream on the Capcom Fighters Twitch channel here
