Capcom has shared gameplay of its mysterious upcoming title, Project Resistance. Revealed during Tokyo Game Show 2019, it brings 4v1 action running on RE Engine.
A cinematic teaser trailer was released days ago which featured four players fighting off hordes of creatures familiar to the Resident Evil franchise. It also appeared to have a secret mastermind who was sending these creatures after them. From that fans were able to make a rather accurate guess about the nature of the game.
In Project Resistance, four players must fight to survive using weapons and specific character skills against an onslaught of horrific creatures. A fifth player acts as the "Mastermind" and through a series of security cameras, attempts to defeat all four survivors using traps and monsters and other obstacles.
The Mastermind does this using a deck of cards which represent the obstacles at his disposal. He can also lock doors, switch off lights and take control of the monsters, including Mr X, the Resident Evil bio-weapon designated Tyrant. Being extremely powerful, Mr X has limited use and should be deployed strategically.
The survivors, on the other hand, have to evade the traps laid out for them, defeat the monsters and solve light puzzles as they try to make their escape.
The name Project Resistance is only a working title and the game is being developed by Capcom and NeoBards Entertainment. The latter has worked on Capcom ports and remasters in the past.
Project Resistance will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC (via Steam). A closed beta is also scheduled to run from October 4-7 and will be exclusively for console. Players will need to sign up for the Resident Evil Ambassadors program to get a chance to participate in the beta. You can find more details here.
