The Overwatch closed beta is going on break, and will be unavailable for at least a month.
In a pretty odd, and very unexpected move, Blizzard will be temporarily shutting down the Overwatch closed beta servers for more than a month. Starting December 10th, 9:00 AM PST, nobody who up until now had access to the game will be able to play. Blizzard explains this decision by saying they want to take some time to analyze all the feedback they have gotten over the last month and implement major changes and additions to the game.
The break will be temporary, and is expected to end mid-to-late January. Blizzard has confirmed that all players will keep their closed beta access and will be able to play again once the servers go back online. Along with the return of the servers, Blizzard is also looking to add a new wave of players. But no players will be added until then.
This of course impacts a lot of things; GosuGamers and other tournament organizers will have to take a break from hosting events as well and teams will not be able to practice and improve. We can also conclude that no other patches will happen until next Thursday.
So to all people currently in the beta, make the most of it now while you still can. More information can be found here.
