BLAST has announced a new event for teams hoping to rise to fame called BLAST Rising. BLAST and Fantasyexpo are teaming up to throw the event in May and offer a $32,300 prize pool for teams. BLAST Rising will see 16 European teams of lower-ranking duke it out online, all of which will be directly invited to the event.
Director of Product and Experience for BLAST, Nicolas Estrup, released a statement regarding the reason behind creating this event:
At BLAST we love the elite and allow everyone to be a part of Premier through the Qualifier Series and the Race to the Global Final, but have created BLAST Rising to support teams and players at all stages of their careers. "By giving teams and players more opportunity and exposure in the way only BLAST can, we want BLAST Rising to be a platform that drives forward their personal and team growth.
BLAST Rising is set to take place over three weeks, from May 4 - 22, and will offer four days of play for each week. The group stage draw stream will be on April 30, where four teams will be put into four groups for best-of-one matches in a round-robin format.
