Flush with an inordinate amount of cash from sales of Fallout 4, studio Bethesda Softworks has opened up a Montreal location, taking advantage of Canada's incentivizing of videogame development, which has led to cities like Montreal, Vancouver and Edmonton becoming hotspots in the industry.

Bethesda Game Studios Montreal is comprised of a core team of more than 40 members, headed by studio director Yves Lachance.

"Our collaboration with Bethesda Game Studios has been an exhilarating and memorable journey already,” Lachance stated in a press release sent to GameWatcher. “We are thrilled to be launching the studio in Montreal and contributing our city’s great game-making talent to the kind of games that Bethesda Game Studios is known for."

The Montreal studio joins Bethesda and parent company Zenimax's growing stable of international developers, including id Software (Texas), Arkane Studios (France) and MachineGames (Sweden). Canada itself is the third largest country in the world in terms of videogame development.

The focus of the Bethesda Game Studios Montreal will be console and mobile. Bethesda Sotfworks game director Todd Howard enthused, “It’s exciting to think about the new games we’ll be building together.”
