Bethesda is promising the upcoming year will be special for The Elder Scrolls Online, as game director Matt Firor has written a blog post on what gamers can expect in 2016.

According to Firor, one of the areas of the game that would be revamped was the social aspect. "This is a focus on making the game much more 'open,' allowing players to play and group with one another with far fewer restrictions," he promised. The game will be instituting a version 2.0 of the Looking for Group in-game mechanic, which the developer hopes will fix the issues with the current system. There are also plans for a new Looking for Guild system. DLC will be level scaled so that players of all XP levels can team up for the new content.

They will also be making a system for players that level beyond the cap at 50. "From 50+, you will receive Champion Points as you gain Experience, which you can use to further augment your character via the Champion System," explained Firor, "The character information window will be updated to show your level, plus your Champion Rating, which is the total number of Champion Points you have accrued." The cap will be 501 Champion Points. Players can acquire skills beyond level 50 by completing quests, raising their Alliance War rank, and collecting Skyshards.

As for the major upcoming DLC, the Thieves Guild game pack will be on the public test server in early February, and the launch of the pack itself will be sometime in the first quarter of 2016. The Dark Brotherhood DLC game pack and update will come in the second quarter. It's set on the Gold Coast of Cyrodiil, adding new gameplay elements and story content.
