Best Games of Previous Week #16 ⚡⚡⚡ Esports and gaming news, analytics, reviews on WePlay! The latest news on WePlay!

The previous week offered a short rest in terms of throwing major releases at poor gamers who simply don’t have enough time to play everything that hits the market. Luckily, there isn’t too much to choose from as today’s compilation has very few worthy titles. There’re obviously a few ports that might draw your attention and some original releases that are not necessarily the ones you’ve been waiting for. Still, no one knows what you might be looking for at the moment – so it’s time to dig into the details.

Today’s compilation consists of the following titles:

Warhammer: Chaosbane

Honestly, this title is not among the “best” ones. In our review, we’ve mentioned that the poor Warhammer universe is being somewhat molested by low-quality video games. Warhammer: Chaosbane is one of those titles, which simply use the well-established setting and don’t deliver the quality it deserves. This particular game tries to be close to Diablo in terms of providing wholesome ARPG experience, but it’s hard to see any results of the efforts put into the development. However, this is still one of the major releases of the previous week, and we can’t just ignore its existence – but you can if you don’t want to get disappointed.

BATTLETECH Urban Warfare

Paradox Interactive is a great publisher in terms of keeping the audience of its games engaged. It literally means that each and every title by the company is being supported by DLCs and expansions on a regular basis – and BATTLETECH is no difference. The tactical strategy has just received another piece of additional content in the form of Urban Warfare DLC, which introduces dense urban environments of the Inner Sphere to the game. There’re a lot of new gameplay opportunities thanks to environment-specific mechanics and huge-scale destruction, although the price for this particular piece of content might seem a bit unreasonable.

Hell Let Loose

Here comes another contender in the highly competitive genre of hardcore first-person WWII shooters. Hell Let Loose offers pretty much the same set of features as we’ve seen before in other games – realistic gameplay, the involvement of various military vehicles, a dynamic frontline, and even something new in the form of resource-based victory strategy. The battles can accept up to 100 players – 50 on each side of the conflict. The game is currently available in Early Access, so there might be bugs and technical issues, but Hell Let Loose looks rather promising – and hey, there is no such thing as too many WWII shooters. And you might want to give your old-favourite Red Orchestra a much-needed break.

Phantom Doctrine

The Cold War period definitely deserves more attention as it is a perfect source for implementing various video game concepts. Take for instance Phantom Doctrine – it’s a nicely developed tactical strategy set in an alternate timeline based on the aforementioned remarkable setting. The year is 1983; your primary task is to create your own espionage agency in order to prevent World War 3. You can hire new operatives, send them on missions to infiltrate hostile organizations, steal secret documents, and do a lot more. The game is not particularly great – but it’s rather ok, and it was fairly warmly welcomed by the Steam community. Now, the time has come to conquer the Nintendo Switch audience.

Journey

Journey requires no introduction – the game is an exceptional masterpiece that has once been a PlayStation exclusive. The times tend to change, and you can now enjoy this incredible adventure on PC via Epic Games Store. If you are among those poor souls that have never tasted Journey before, then you are extremely lucky – you are about to experience something absolutely unique in terms of gameplay. This is a project, to get the most out of which you need to forget everything you know about video games. It was named the best game of 2012 – and such an honourable title was well-deserved. The years have passed, but the game didn’t lose its extravagant perfection.
