You can finally play Battlerite Royale for free – in case you were waiting for the inevitable shift to the free-to-play model to happen. You might be thinking that this step by the developers was forced by the recent release of free-to-play Apex Legends, but the truth is that moving to free-to-play was always the option for Battlerite Royale.
The exact date was announced at the beginning of February, and at that moment, no one knew about the coming release of Apex Legends. Yeah, it’s been a standard for the past few weeks to compare each and every Battle Royale project to the aforementioned Respawn’s latest. Still, Battlerite Royale is not a strict Battle Royale game since it combines the elements of the mode with MOBA, which was the initial genre of choice for original Battlerite. In regards to shifting to free-to-play, the game received so-called BIG PATCH yesterday, and you can view the details here.
For players, the change in question means that Battlerite Royale is no longer in Steam Early Access and is (almost) completely free. The version is now 2.0, and the game has a lot more features to play with along with three new Champions. Similarly to Fortnite, Battlerite Royale now has a Battle Pass system, which allows earning both free and premium cosmetics. You can learn more on the matter through the link.
